Assistant Vice President, Public Relations

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly organized, adaptable, proactive public relations pro to help co-lead FiComm’s Integrated book of business, with an emphasis on supporting the EVP of Communications. The AVP, alongside the EVP, will be tasked with oversight of PR team activity and deliverables, including directly influencing the strategy and overall direction of accounts, proactively identifying media opportunities, managing progress towards deliverables and opportunities outlined in each client’s communications plan, and identifying client issues or potential areas of client dissatisfaction and escalating it with senior management, as appropriate. The AVP will also partner closely with the FiComm Marketing team on integrated accounts. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, skilled at public relations strategy and execution, and have experience working across integrated teams and accounts.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Work with EVPs of Communications, Marketing and Advisor Education to develop, deliver and execute effective communications strategies and plans to meet client objectives
  • Collaborate with team members and supporting resources, including copywriters and designers, to successfully execute integrated communications plans-including press releases, contributed content, pitches, call agendas, quarterly coverage reports, media bios, media briefing documents, and award and speaker submissions, among other deliverables
  • Work with the team to secure, coordinate and manage media interviews; provide media training, as well as deliver interview feedback to clients; and manage any follow-up requests from reporters or clients
  • Provide counsel on ways clients can amplify media coverage and content on social media
  • !Follow public relations and financial services industry trends and best practices affecting the agency and clients
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and can communicate within a cross­ functional team
  • Proven ability to build and maintain business relationships with clients and members of the media, demonstrated through strong industry media relationships
  • Must be a highly organized, self-starter and have the aptitude for tracking multiple deliverables against tight timelines
  • Think strategically to support the team with initiative ideation pertaining to specific clients and projects
  • Prepare and review quarterly reports and share with account managers for review
  • Contribute to integrated strategic communications plans through thoughtful, informed suggestions and input
  • Excellent writing skills across multiple types of content, with an understanding of the need for nuanced messaging for a wide range of audiences, including but not limited to advisors, investors, and enterprise clients
  • Demonstrate excellent editing and proofreading skills
  • Ability to work with elevated levels of attention to detail and experience in reviewing content from team members and copywriters to ensure it aligns with client goals and expectations
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and work closely with team members to ensure projects are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Can facilitate weekly, monthly, or quarterly check-in-calls with clients
  • Financial services industry experience is strongly preferred, as well as a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced agency environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or related fields
  • 5-8 years of prior experience in a public relations role, preferably at an agency
  • Exceptional verbal, writing, editing, research, and intrapersonal skills
  • Hyper-organized professional with proven project management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Creative and energetic personality with start-up mentality that can work independently and within a team
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple deadlines, projects, and accounts simultaneously
  • Ability to succeed in a detail-oriented environment and take responsibility for detailed tasks
  • Wealth management experience is preferred

Vice President, Marketing

POSITION OVERVIEW

The VP, of Marketing is responsible for the day-to-day management of deliverables for a cross-section of FiComm’s retained marketing clients and project-based marketing clients, supported by members of the marketing team, as well as freelancers. The VP will build and maintain collaborative relationships with clients, and directly manage the production schedule of projects, marketing plans, and deliverables, working closely with the FiComm PR and creative teams as necessary.

The VP of Marketing will ensure project management and logistical objectives are met for all retained and project-based business. This includes contributing information and recommendations to project plans and reviews, ensuring deadlines are met, implementing production, gauging productivity, resolving problems, identifying trends, determining system improvements, and implementing

change. The VP will aid in designing and implementing strategic marketing plans and be responsible for assigning tasks and deliverables to marketing team members. In addition, this role may manage members of the marketing team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Serves as the primary contact for each client throughout the discovery, planning, and production process of every project
  • Exhibits exceptional project management skills and follows through to ensure projects are completed accurately, timely, and within budget constraints
  • Manages and creates marketing and strategic communications plans through thoughtful research and strategic oversight
  • Evaluates projects upon completion, comparing forecasted production hours with actuals; provides recommendations for greater project efficiency
  • Collaborates effectively on integrated projects with key team members from PR team for consistent messaging and an overall positive client experience.
  • Manages marketing team through strategic counsel and mentorship
  • Manages freelancers supporting various aspects of marketing work
  • Abilityto manage cross-functional teams/projects where needed
  • Work with other senior members across the firm to spearhead new business, recruiting, mentoring, onboarding, and account staffing
  • Excellent writing skills across multiple types of collateral, with an understanding of the need for nuanced messaging for a wide range of audiences, including not limited to advisor, investor, enterprise clients

  • Financial services industry experience strongly preferred, as well as a proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced agency environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • S./B.A. in Marketing, Communications, Business or related fields
  • Minimum of 8-10 years prior marketing experience
  • Experience with/interest in financial services preferred
  • Exceptional verbal, writing, editing, research, and interpersonal skills
  • Hyper-organized professional with proven project management skills
  • A go-getter that thrives as a member of an entrepreneurial team and culture
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite with knowledge of Hubspot and project management software (Wrike) preferred

The FiComm Partners Fellowship Program is a 24-week program designed to provide training, resources and client-engagement experience to new graduates, as well as valuable support to our growing team. Additionally, it will expose the Fellow to all facets of FiComm’s business, including PR and  Marketing. This program will also arm the FiComm Fellows with knowledge of best practices in the PR/Marketing industry. By the end of the 24 weeks, FiComm Fellows will be able to do the following successfully and independently:

  • Basics of account management and profitability
  • Understand how to work in a professional setting, following policy and procedure
  • Draft and finalize press releases
  • Build and maintain media lists
  • Craft a media pitch and successfully pitch reporters
  • Draft client-facing materials, including agendas, emails, news analysis and contributed content
  • Engage in internal and client-facing meetings, conference calls and brainstorms

  • Brainstorm creative ideas for proactive campaigns
  • Demonstrate ability to monitor for time-sensitive media articles

The FiComm Partners Fellowship Program is a 24-week program designed to provide training, resources and client-engagement experience to new graduates, as well as valuable support to our growing team. Additionally, it will expose the Fellow to all facets of FiComm’s business, including Marketing and PR. This program will also arm the FiComm Fellows with knowledge of best practices in the Marketing industry and valuable experience developing, presenting and implementing marketing plans. By the end of the 24 weeks, FiComm Fellows will be able to do the following successfully and independently:

Interns will gain hands-on experience while working in the field alongside experienced and recognized members of the finance community, being exposed to what it takes to prepare, enter and disrupt the market. For the right candidate, this can transition to a full-time position.

Remote – Intern, PR
